About Us

Michael Pneuma began his jewellery career as an apprentice in 1983 and qualified as a Goldsmith in 1987. He established his own business that same year, specialising in high-quality, hand-crafted jewellery to international standards.

In 2002, Pneuma Jewellers (PJ) was officially established, expanding into custom jewellery manufacturing and professional artisan training. Michael played an active role in developing MQA jewellery manufacturing programmes and later established the PJ Training Programme alongside Master Jeweller Dieter-Wolf Dorr.

Over the years, PJ has played an important role in developing South Africa’s jewellery skills sector, including training trade test officials and assessing trainers for MQA learnership programmes.

In 2016, PJ established its own NAMB- and QCTO-accredited Trade Test Centre for Goldsmith and Diamond Setting qualifications.

Today, PJ remains a leading QCTO-accredited Goldsmith training provider, having trained 147 Goldsmiths, Diamond Setters and Engravers, with approximately 90% going on to gain employment in the industry.
